AI app builders: what to compare before choosing
Choose a tool by its complete workflow: from the first brief to editing, testing and publication. A good-looking opening screen is only part of the result.
Read the comparison ↓Define the task first
For a website, focus on content, mobile layout and the visitor’s next step. An application also needs data, roles and rules. List required capabilities before comparing services.
Use the same task for a useful comparison
Use a small team request service as your trial project. This is a proposed test brief, not a claim that every tool already supports the workflow.
The test project: a team request service
An employee submits a request. A manager sees the list, opens a request and changes its status. The employee can return to their request and see the result. Use test data.
Write a short brief
One audience, three screens or sections and one main action.
Make the same change
Replace an asset and add a form field.
Validate the result
Complete the flow on mobile and desktop, then assess costs and constraints.
Data and users
For a portal or request workflow, test record storage, access by different users and errors. A form or sign-in screen does not prove the complete workflow is ready.
- Save a request
- Submit the form and reload the page. Is the record still there?
- Switch users
- Open the same workflow as a different user. Can they access only the records they should see?
- Try an invalid action
- Leave a required field empty or attempt an unavailable status change. Is the error clear?
- Return to the request
- Check the stored values, status and next action in the detail view.
The first version and ongoing work
Try replacing an image, adding a page and changing one rule. Check whether earlier work is preserved and whether you can review the result before publishing.
For the request-service test, add an urgency field. Check that it appears in the form, survives saving and is visible to the manager. Repeat the same change in each tool.
Ways to build your project
Apply the same test to each approach. Record what you completed, where you needed help and which conditions remain to be checked.
Prepared by the Fluw team. Workflow descriptions were checked against official pages on November 2, 2026. This is not a ranking; verify plans and capabilities before choosing.
- Fluw ↗
- AI project creation, materials, preview, data and publication. Validate your workflow and the selected plan’s limits.
- Lovable ↗
- Website and application creation from a description. Test your data workflow and ongoing editing in a small project.
- Bolt ↗
- Build websites, applications and prototypes from a text brief. Check your required integrations and publishing terms.
- Replit ↗
- An environment for building applications with AI. Compare development, data handling and hosting for your workflow.
- Base44 ↗
- Application creation from a description. Check user roles, data and ongoing-use conditions.
What to check before paying
- Generation and editing limits, and when they renew.
- Publishing, domain, external services and recurring costs.
- Project access, export and portability under current terms.
- What happens to the site and data when payments stop.
Compare the same period of use and the same amount of work. A successful first generation does not tell you the cost of editing and running the application.
Questions before choosing
What should a beginner choose?
The tool in which you can complete your small workflow and understand the usage terms.
How should I compare costs?
Compare creation, revisions, hosting and external services over the same period.
Can I continue outside the service?
It depends on the product’s export capabilities, dependencies and licenses. Check official terms before choosing.
